German female journalist kidnapped in Syria

TAccording to German newspaper Focus, 27-year-old German journalist Jannina Findeisen was kidnapped in Syria and her captors offered her 5 million euros in exchange for her freedom.

Citing sources from the German Foreign Ministry's crisis management team as well as the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the newspaper said that Ms. Findeisen went to Syria in October 2015 when she was 6 months pregnant.

She is believed to have given birth while being held by her captors. In a text message to her family, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 5 million euros for her release.

After the boyfriend and mother reported Findeisen's kidnapping, the BKA checked the journalist's email communications.

According to the information obtained, Ms. Findeisen was in very close contact with a number of German Muslims such as Pierre Vogel and Sven Lau in Syria.

It is known that the female reporter Findeisen wanted to go to Syria to collect information about German Muslims fighting in Syria. She often writes for the Zeit newspaper, the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper and NDR radio./.
