Previously, after the ceiling collapse incident atHermann Gmeiner High School, student TM – class 11A9 was the most seriously injured patient. After initial first aid, the patient was transferred to Viet Duc Hospital for treatment in a state of multiple injuries and complete spinal paralysis.
Informing a number of press agencies today, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Deputy Head of Spinal Surgery Department, Viet Duc Hospital, said: The patient was admitted to the hospital due to a domestic accident, multiple trauma, fracture and dislocation of the T11 thoracic vertebra, complete spinal cord paralysis; small subarachnoid hemorrhage in the brain, Glasgow 15 points; fractures of ribs 1-4 on the right side, hemothorax and pneumothorax on both sides.

The patient was transferred to the emergency operating room for bilateral pleural drainage; spinal correction, spinal fixation, and nerve release.
According to information from the hospital, due to the severe impact of the ceiling collapse, patient M is now completely paralyzed in movement and sensation, so his recovery is unlikely. Doctors will continue to monitor and actively treat the patient.
Regarding the school's wooden ceiling collapse, on the afternoon of December 21, the Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment signed and issued a document to the Nghe An Provincial Department of Health to direct timely emergency care and treatment of the accident victims.
