12th grade female student drowned in Yen Thanh

(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Tran Xuan Loc - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh) said that a tragic drowning incident had just occurred in the area, taking the life of a 12th grade female student.

The victim was Bui Thi Thu Trang - a 12th grade student in A6 at Yen Thanh 2 High School. Trang is the second daughter of Bui Dinh Thao and Ngo Thi Lien in Hamlet 2, Xuan Thanh Commune.

Before that, at around 1:30 p.m. on May 29, Trang and her two friends went to Ly Thanh commune to play. While passing the Dau Ly water control sluice on the Nong Giang Cai River system from Do Luong district to Quynh Luu, Trang went down to wash her hands at the riverbank and slipped into the rushing water. Her two friends who jumped in to save her were also swept away by the current.

At this time, many people working in the fields came together and saved the two children, but Trang was swept away by the water.

Upon receiving the news, from the afternoon of May 29, the Yen Thanh District Military Command mobilized over 100 militiamen, on duty in 5 communes of Ly Thanh, Nam Thanh; Lien Thanh; Bac Thanh and Xuan Thanh, along with 2 motorboats to search for the body of the unfortunate victim. Due to the deep riverbed and strong currents, as of 10 p.m. the same day, Trang's body had not yet been found. Currently, the rescue work is still continuing.

It is known that female student Bui Thi Thu Trang is an excellent student, active in all school movements. In grade 11, she won the Encouragement Prize in History in the provincial excellent student exam.
