Female boxer To Thi Trang won the first Gold Medal at SEA Games 31
(Baonghean.vn) - To Thi Trang is the first female martial artist from Vietnam to win a Gold Medal at the 31st SEA Games in Kurash.

To Thi Trang competed in the Kurash event at the 31st SEA Games in the 48 kg weight class. There were only 5 athletes participating in this event: To Thi Trang, Thuy Duong, athletes from the Philippines, Myanmar, and Thailand. Therefore, the Organizing Committee decided to compete in a round-robin format. After 3 wins against Thuy Duong, athletes from the Philippines, Myanmar, and 1 loss against athletes from Thailand. The Dong Anh boxer officially won a medal in this event.
To Thi Trang started in Judo, but through her training, she became interested in Kurash (a sport similar to Judo). In the past, Kurash has brought Trang many successes. One can mention the Silver Medal at the 2013 Asian Kurash Championship; at the 2022 Asian Kurash Championship, the 1999-born boxer also brought the Vietnamese delegation a Bronze Medal.

After Trang won the first Gold Medal, this afternoon, good news continued to come to the Vietnamese sports delegation when the Kurash boxers brought home 4 more Gold Medals.
Kurash athletes who won Gold Medals were: Minh Quan in the 81kg weight class, Tran Thuong in the 90kg weight class, Nguyen Thi Hong Mo in the 52kg weight class.
Immediately after that, the Vietnamese beach handball team also excellently defeated the Philippines to win the Gold Medal at the congress.
As of 6:00 p.m., the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has won a total of 6 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, 2 Bronze Medals and is temporarily leading the medal tally.
