Air pollution reduces sleep quality
Too much exposure to toxic emissions and fine dust with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers will affect sleep quality.
Scientists at the University of Washington came to the above conclusion after analyzing air pollution data and sleep status of 1,863 people in 6 cities in the US over 5 years.

After taking into account a number of factors including age, smoking status and respiratory problems, the team found that the group exposed to the highest levels of air pollution over five years was more likely to fall into the poor sleep group than those less affected by air pollution.
Based on the participants' sleep quality, the research team assessed that one-quarter of the participants had good sleep quality, meaning sleep efficiency was 93% or higher, while the group with poor sleep was determined to have sleep efficiency of 88% or lower.
In particular, people exposed to high levels of toxic emissions and fine dust have a 50% and 60% increased risk of sleep disturbances, respectively./.
