The small car operates quite stably at high speeds, moves smoothly in the inner city and has impressive fuel economy.

In the small car segment in the current Vietnamese auto market, Hyundai Grand i10 is proving to be too strong compared to competitors such as Kia Morning or Chevrolet Spark. In the first half of 2017 alone, Grand i10 sales reached over 12,000 vehicles while Kia Morning sales only reached about 6,000 vehicles and Chevrolet Spark sales were less than 1,000 vehicles. |

After being imported from India, the new upgraded version of Hyundai Grand i10 has begun to be assembled in Vietnam and sold on the market since the end of July. According to the distributor, the assembly helps reduce the price of Grand i10 by about 10% compared to before, thereby increasing the competitiveness of this small car model. |

During the test drive of more than 300 km from Hanoi to Ha Long and vice versa, Hyundai Grand i10 2017 demonstrated its strengths in optimal fuel economy, comfortable driving feeling and convenient navigation map. However, the overall design of this car line is not really soft and elegant despite some exterior details being refined. |
The 2017 Hyundai Grand i10 has both sedan and hatchback body styles. The sedan version has the advantage of interior space and a spacious trunk. The reporter tested the Grand i10 1.2AT. In this version, the driver's seat is still manually adjusted and the air conditioner is manually adjusted. However, the car has push-button start and a smart key instead of a mechanical key. |
On the first 167 km route from Hanoi to Ha Long, Hyundai Grand i10 was "forced" by reporters to save fuel by turning off the air conditioner and operating at a speed of 40 to 60 km/h. The roads the car traveled were Hanoi's inner city roads, highways and national highways with many vehicles moving at the same time. |
After about 4 hours, the convoy arrived at the gas station in Ha Long. With different driving styles, the fuel consumption of the Grand i10 was recorded as quite modest. The 3 most economical cars had a consumption of only 3.97L down to 3.71L/100km. |
On the journey back to Hanoi, the reporter had the opportunity to test the most realistic and "natural" performance of the Hyundai Grand i10 on different roads. On inner-city roads, provincial roads, and low-speed travel of about 40 km/h, the car ran quite smoothly and had good soundproofing. |
The map utility developed specifically for the Vietnamese market displays street names and routes quite intuitively. |
On the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway, with a maximum speed of 120 km/h, the Grand i10 operates stably and without any wobble. The 1.2L engine maximizes its power and torque at low rpm. However, the 4-speed gearbox does not provide a smooth, gliding feeling at high speed. If on the way from Hanoi to Ha Long, each car has to add about 5 to more than 7 liters for a distance of 160 km, then on the return journey, when arriving at the destination, the fuel line on the meter needle only fluctuates slightly and is still close to the full mark. |
Basically, the Hyundai Grand i10 is a fuel-efficient urban car. Despite its unattractive design, the car demonstrates its performance with different driving modes, acceleration, sporty manual transmission or stability at high speeds. The assembled Hyundai Grand i10 is currently priced from 340 to 435 million VND. |
