According to Mr. Putin, the policy of containing Russia is not a matter of natural competition in international relations, but a consistent and very aggressive line aimed at disrupting Russia's development.

On February 24, speaking at a meeting with the Russian Federal Security Service, President V. Putin said that "a targeted information campaign is being conducted against the Russian Federation with biased, baseless, and unsubstantiated accusations on a number of issues."

The Russian leader also stressed that many of Russia's partners are very sympathetic to the country's research results and are ready to cooperate. He welcomed this attitude and said that solving global problems can only be achieved through joint efforts.

“A lot of efforts have been and are being made, thank you comrades for the information that you have conveyed to the country's political leadership about the fact that a number of provocations are planned in this area. But we have long been accustomed to this and are ready,” President V. Putin said.

The Russian leader said that the country also faces the so-called policy of containing Russia.

In fact, this has been known for a long time. According to him, this is not a matter of natural competition in international relations, but a consistent and very aggressive approach aimed at disrupting Russia's development, slowing it down, creating problems in foreign affairs, destabilizing it internally, eroding the values that unite Russian society, and ultimately weakening Russia and bringing it under external control.

President V. Putin stressed that this is happening in a number of countries in the post-Soviet space.

The Russian leader noted that external forces are trying to tie the country down with economic and other sanctions, to block major international projects, in which not only Russia, but also its partners are interested, to directly interfere in the country's social and political life, in the democratic order, and are actively using tools from the arsenal of special services.

President V. Putin declared: “Such a path for Russia has absolutely no prospects. We are ready to conduct an open dialogue, to find compromise solutions to the most difficult problems based on mutual trust and respect.”

He stressed that it is unconditionally important for Russia that its sovereignty, national interests, the security of its citizens, the right of people to determine their own future, values, the foundations of development must be reliably protected.

In this context, President V. Putin called on, based on the created foundation, on the growing capabilities and potential of the special service, to ensure a new quality of work in all key areas.

Its effectiveness and efficiency must correspond to its nature andthe dynamics of the threats facing Russia.

The Russian leader called terrorism the most dangerous threat and required constant focus and decisive action in the fight against it.

According to him, in December last year, Russia completely destroyed the last organized rebel group committing crimes on the territory of Chechnya and Ingushetia, and is now conducting effective work in remote and inaccessible areas, including in Syria.

In 2020, Russia prevented 72 terrorist crimes, a quarter more than a year earlier - 57./.
