Putin oversees Russia's retaliatory nuclear strike exercise
Russian President Vladimir Putin has just supervised a military exercise that included a retaliatory nuclear strike. Ballistic missiles, including intercontinental ones, were launched and hit their targets.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu described the purpose of the exercise as testing the readiness of “Russia's strategic strike forces” to carry out a large-scale nuclear strike in response to an enemy nuclear attack.

According to the Kremlin, the forcesnuclear deterrenceLand, sea and air forces participated in this exercise.
A Yars intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region and a Sineva ballistic missile launched from the Barents Sea destroyed a target on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East.
Tu-95 strategic bombers also participated in this Russian military exercise./.
