Putin promotes generals responsible for operations in Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree promoting a number of generals and military personnel. The document was published on the official legal website.

Notably, the commander of the General Staff's Operations Department, Lieutenant General Sergei Rudskoy, became a colonel general. Also promoted to the rank of colonel were the former commander of the Russian military group in Syria (from June to December 2016), Lieutenant General Alexander Zhuravlev, and the head of the National Defense Center, Lieutenant General Mikhail Mizintsev, who became a colonel general.

The commander of long-range aviation, Major General Sergei Kobilash, has been promoted to Lieutenant General.
