"She doesn't like Putin because he's smarter every step of the way," Trump said at the televised debate. "We spent $6 trillion, and they (Russia) won the Middle East!" Trump said, without specifying what the US spent the money on.

"They (Russia, the US, Syria) had a ceasefire three weeks ago. During the ceasefire, Russia gained huge areas. And then they said they didn't want a ceasefire anymore... They beat us. If Mrs. Clinton was there, I don't think she would have done anything. Our country has been taken down by Putin, Assad and Iran. Nobody expected our leaders to be so stupid," Mr. Trump declared.

In turn, Mrs. Clinton said that the Russian government has a clear sympathy for a figure in the US presidential race - Republican candidate Donald Trump. "Because it is very clear that he (Putin) wants to use him as a puppet in the US presidency," Mrs. Clinton said of Mr. Trump.
