"Get out of its way," the Telegraph quoted US President Donald Trump as saying at a meeting with his cabinet at Camp David, in western Maryland. "Property can be replaced, but lives cannot. Safety first," he stressed.

The US President also asked people to strictly follow instructions from the government to best cope with the "monster" super storm Irma, which is about to make landfall in Florida in the next few hours.

Irma, the most powerful hurricane ever to hit the Atlantic, lashed Barbuda and then the French islands of St Barts and St Martin on September 6, destroying sturdier buildings, ripping off roofs and knocking out power. At least 24 people died and many more were injured.

By 3:00 GMT (10:00 Hanoi time) on September 9, Hurricane Irma with maximum winds of up to 260 km/h had reached the Camaguey area of Cuba and caused landslides. The eye of the storm was only 300 km southeast of Miami, Florida, USA.

Millions of Floridians have been ordered to evacuate. US military and security forces are on standby for storm rescue and support.
