US President Donald Trump has again condemned violence and called for reconciliation, but has not commented on the House of Representatives' decision to impeach him.

"I want to condemn the violence we saw last week... Mob violence goes against everything I believe in, and everything our movement stands for," the US leader said in a video message.

Mr. Trump stressed the need to focus on the interests of the entire country and called on all Americans to unite, "overcoming temporary enthusiasm."

Speaking in the video, the US President also mentioned the unprecedented attacks on freedom of speech, referring to the suspension of his social media accounts. "These are tense and difficult times. Attempting to censor, 'deletion' and blacklisting our fellow citizens is wrong and dangerous," he said.

The country's leader called on his compatriots to "listen to each other" and not try to "shut each other up".

He also said he had ordered federal agencies to use all resources to maintain order amid reports of new unrest in Washington and across the country. He added that "thousands" of National Guard troops were being deployed to Washington to ensure "transfer of powertook place safely, without incident".

Additionally, Mr. Trump promised that those at fault in the recent riot at the Capitol would be held accountable.

Earlier, the House of Representatives decided to impeach Mr. Trump on charges of inciting riots. He became the first President in US history to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives.
