Trump builds plan for peaceful solution in Ukraine

Russia's TASS news agency reported on May 4 that the Telegraph newspaper cited an anonymous source close to former US President Donald Trump as saying that the politician had developed a detailed plan to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine. However, according to the same source, Mr. Trump will not reveal the content of the plan before the US presidential election later this year.
“There is a plan, but he won’t argue it with the cable news networks because then they lose all leverage,” the source said.
Instead, Trump will focus on a simple message that he will end the war in an effort to win over American voters, the source said.
In late April, Mr. Trump said in an interview with Time that he would not provide aid to Ukraine if elected unless Europe joined in.
TASS also reported that Russia, for its part, has repeatedly expressed its views on the situation around Ukraine at various levels. Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted that Moscow has always been and remains ready to resolve the crisis diplomatically and is ready to respond to truly serious proposals. Meanwhile, according to TASS, the Kiev authorities have disrupted and banned further negotiations with Russia.
In another development, on May 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that the "peace formula" for Ukraine was due to the West cutting off arms supplies to the Kiev government.
The diplomat referred to the statement of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, who asserted that without arms supplies from the West, Ukraine would surrender in two weeks.
"An amazing confession! This is the whole 'peace formula' for you - stop supplying Western weapons to the Kiev regime," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
Earlier, Mr Borrell said the conflict in Ukraine could end quickly in "a few weeks" without Western military aid to Kiev.
"I know how to end the war in Ukraine. I can end the war in Ukraine in a few weeks just by cutting off supplies. If I cut off the arms supplies to Ukraine, Ukraine cannot resist - they will have to surrender and the war will end," Borrell said.
