Mr. Zelensky officially sworn in as President of Ukraine
Mr Zelensky placed his hands on the Constitution of Ukraine and the Bible. The head of the Constitutional Court led him to the podium to take the oath.
The new president took the following oath:
“I, Vladimir Zelensky, elected by the people of Ukraine as President, now taking this high office, swear allegiance to Ukraine. I pledge to protect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. In all my actions I pledge to care for the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the Ukrainian people, to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, to respect the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine, to fulfill my duties in the interests of all compatriots, and to enhance the prestige of Ukraine in the world."
The new president signed the oath of office and handed it to the head of the Constitutional Court, who then announced that Zelensky had been sworn in as president of Ukraine.
He then received the official symbols of power for the head of state - special presidential insignia in the form of a chain of medals, the state seal and the mace.
