According to the report of the Provincial Women's Union: Although in the past year, women's unions at all levels have had many creative and effective ways of doing things, many good models, creating great influence, but the activities of directing and building models for women participating in environmental protection to contribute to the construction of new rural areas are still small-scale.

In particular, rural women's awareness and behavior towards environmental protection are still unclear; environmental pollution is increasingly increasing, seriously affecting people's health.

Therefore, the development and promulgation of the Project "Propaganda and mobilization of rural women to proactively participate in environmental protection, contributing to the construction of New Rural Areas in the period of 2018 - 2021" aims to enhance the role and responsibility of women's unions; create clear changes for members, rural women and people in the community to proactively join hands to protect the environment.

In recent years, women's unions at all levels have had many environmental protection models such as: "Women self-managing the environment"; "Home garbage pits"; "Women's groups collecting waste"... The whole province has built 25 women's groups self-managing the environment; 85 green and clean rural roads are undertaken by women's unions.

Some indicators of the Project "Propaganda and mobilization of rural women to proactively participate in environmental protection, contributing to the construction of New Rural Areas in the period of 2018 - 2021": 100% of cadres, 90% of members and women in 431 rural communes are propagated and trained in knowledge and skills on environmental protection; Every year, 12,930 more households are mobilized (on average, each commune mobilizes 30 households/year) to build garbage pits at home, classify garbage at source; From 2018 - 2021, 100,920 more rural households will meet the 3 criteria of "Clean house, clean alley, clean environment"...

At the meeting, delegates commented on many incomplete contents in the project such as not clearly analyzing the causes of the current state of environmental pollution; needing to include the harmful effects of different types of waste so that the subjects of the project clearly understand which waste has a major impact on people's health...

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Xuan Dai affirmed: Environmental protection is the responsibility of all people, but women play a very important role. Therefore, in the project, the agency in charge of its development needs to clearly state the role of women in propaganda; in leading environmental protection tasks.

“When women are aware of the importance of environmental protection, it will impact most of the people. Therefore, the project needs to define common and specific goals to set out a closer roadmap,” the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested./.
