Today, answering questions about the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture's official announcement to adjust and apply the new Regulations on fishing holidays at sea, the scope of application includes some sea areas of Vietnam, Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh emphasized:

“Vietnam resolutely opposes and rejects this regulation of China.

Vietnam has full legal basis and historical evidence to affirm its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago as well as its legitimate rights over Vietnam's maritime zones determined in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

This unilateral decision by China has seriously violated Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, violated Vietnam's legal rights and interests in its maritime zones; violated international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and relevant international legal documents, and gone against the spirit and text of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), making the situation in the East Sea continue to become complicated and tense.
