Phan Van Duc - former midfielder of Song Lam Nghe An just underwent a successful surgery in Singapore

Phan Van Ducsuffered an injury in the opening match of the 2023 National Cup between Khanh Hoa and Hanoi Police. Specifically, in the 35th minute, Van Duc jumped up to block the ball in the middle of the field, did not collide with anyone but landed in the wrong position and fell to the ground. He was immediately taken care of by the medical team but could not continue playing.

On April 4, Phan Van Duc was diagnosed by doctors with a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a crushed posterior horn of the medial meniscus. With this injury, Phan Van Duc was arranged by his club and insurance company to go to Singapore for treatment. On April 11, the surgery of the former midfielder of Song Lam Nghe An was successfully performed.

It is expected that Phan Van Duc will have to stay away from the field for at least 9 months. Thus, he will only be able to return to play for Hanoi Police in V.League 2023 - 2024.

This treatment coincided with Phan Van Duc's birthday. He was not alone because his wife Nhat Linh was always by his side to take care of him and encourage him. On the night of April 11, Van Duc received a lovely birthday cake from his wife with the message: "Happy birthday, Dad Phan Van Duc. The sun sometimes rises and sometimes sets, the years have summer and winter, life sometimes has smooth sailing and sometimes has difficulties, we all have to go through it... Wishing you all the best today, keep trying!".

In addition, despite being far away, the midfielder from Yen Thanh still received many wishes from family and friends. On his personal page, Van Duc shared: "The most memorable birthday of my life is April 11, 2023. Thank you to the leadership of the Hanoi Police Club for caring, following and encouraging Duc. Thank you to my family and friends for always supporting Duc. On the road ahead, I will try much, much harder."

Those sources of encouragement will be the motivation for the midfielder born in 1996 to quickly overcome this difficulty to continue to return to contribute to Vietnamese football.

Phan Van Duc said goodbye to Song Lam Nghe An Club - the place that nurtured and developed the midfielder's talent at the beginning of the 2023 season. After that, he joined Hanoi Police under a 3-year contract with an undisclosed signing fee.

Recently, during the short training session of the Vietnamese team, Van Duc was still on the list announced by coach Troussier.
