Today (November 30), the Climate Change Summit (COP21) will officially take place with the participation of about 80 heads of state and representatives from nearly 200 countries and territories.
After the terrorist attack on the night of November 13 that killed 130 people, France banned people from holding protests and marches across the country, and mobilized 120,000 security personnel to protect the COP21 Conference in Paris from November 30. Despite this, the wave of anti-climate change protests is still rising in Paris.
On November 29, about 200 protesters carrying banners calling for environmental protection clashed with police on a road leading to Place de la Republique. Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
On the same day, security forces blocked a climate march in Le Bourget. French authorities also placed 24 environmental activists under house arrest over concerns they could organize violent protests.
