On January 25, Market Management Team No. 8 of Bu Dop District, Binh Phuoc Province, in coordination with the District Veterinary Station, inspected and discovered that an animal meat business establishment at Thanh Binh Market owned by Ms. Le Thi Len (permanent resident of Hamlet 5, Thanh Hoa Commune) had signs of trading in dirty buffalo and beef meat.

Through on-site inspection, authorities discovered nearly 200kg of meat and bones of buffalo and cows without documents proving their origin.

Mr. Tran Van Duong, an officer at the Veterinary Station of Bu Dop district, said that this food had a foul odor, changed color and showed signs of bacterial contamination.

Ms. Le Thi Len said that she imported the above amount of meat from slaughterhouses in the district since June 2014. On average, Ms. Len imports more than 10kg per day. Due to sluggish sales, the amount of meat left over each day has now reached over 197kg.

The authorities of Bu Dop district have drawn up a record to temporarily detain the above mentioned bones and beef and are taking professional steps to handle them according to the provisions of law./.
