On the evening of June 10, Cat Ba Border Guard Station (Hai Phong City) announced that the unit had just discovered and seized an iron-hulled ship with registration number QN 4288/1000, carrying nearly 40,000 liters of various types of oil of unknown origin.
Previously, at 9:30 a.m. on June 10, in the southwest area of Long Chau Island in Cat Ba sea area (Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city), Task Force No. 1 (Border Guard Command) coordinated with Cat Ba Border Guard Station while patrolling and controlling and discovered the above ship with many suspicious signs.
The authorities approached and inspected the ship and found that it had all the documents related to the crew and the vehicle, but nearly 40,000 liters of various types of oil (including DO and FO oil) did not have procedures or documents proving its legal origin.
At the time of inspection, there were 8 crew members on board, with Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1961, in Yet Kieu ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province) driving the vehicle.
The working group and Cat Ba Border Guard Station have decided to temporarily detain the vehicle and related evidence and continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to investigate and handle the case according to the provisions of law.
