Experts say most of the fossils found are intact. The Glyptodontidae pangolin is about the size and weight of a Volkswagen Beetle.

The animal is similar in appearance to a turtle, with a flat shell, rounded horny armor, and limbs that are close to the body. Glyptodontidae are herbivores and feed on grass and other vegetation found along rivers and small streams.

Dorada Beach is a special area in the warm waters of San Matías Bay where many ancient animal remains have been discovered.

Experts from the Lorenzo Scaglia Natural Sciences Museum of Mar del Plata have found fossils of the llallawavis scagliai dinosaur bird, a dangerous prehistoric carnivore that lived 3 million years ago.

The Buenos Aires provincial government is proposing a project to honor the city of Mar del Plata as a special archaeological site with 5 million years of history. This is one of the areas with many fossils dating back millions of years in South America./.
