Body found near sunken fishing boat on the way to Quen creek

At around 9:00 a.m. on April 8, Coast Guard Squadron 2, Nghe An Province Border Guard received a report from Ship An Minh Phat 88 that a body was discovered drifting at sea, in the area between Mat Island and Song Ngu Island.

Immediately after receiving the news, Squadron 2 deployed vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene. The body was found near the area where fishing boat NA-80209 TS of fishermen from Van Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province sank on March 18.

According to initial information, the body was identified as male, in the process of decomposition, so it was difficult to identify.

Currently, Squadron 2, Nghe An Province Border Guard has contacted local authorities, families of the missing crew members and relevant agencies to identify the victims.

Previously, fishing boat NA-80209-TS, 14.95m long, sank on the afternoon of March 18. The location of the sunken boat was determined to be about 6 nautical miles from Mat Island. On board at the time were 4 crew members, including: Nguyen Van Cuong (born in 1980); Tran Van Huu (born in 1995); Le Tuan Anh (born in 2005), all residing in Van Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, and Bui Sy Nhat (born in 1977), residing in Thuan Long commune, Quynh Luu district.

At noon on March 19, crew member Tran Van Huu was discovered and picked up by a squid fishing boat of Ha Tinh fishermen, about 30 nautical miles from the sunken ship, in poor health.

The bodies of crew members Nguyen Van Cuong and Bui Sy Nhat were found drifting ashore in Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh on March 29 and 30; crew member Le Tuan Anh has not been found.
