Man's body found after 3 days of searching

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 19, relatives discovered Mr. Nguyen Dinh K. (51 years old) in team 5, Hop Hoa hamlet, Thanh Chi commune, Thanh Chuong district, drowned in a ditch near his house.

For the past 3 days, Mr. K. has been mysteriously absent from home, so his family and relatives have been searching everywhere for him.

At 8:00 a.m. on December 19, people in the hamlet found a sandal of Mr. K. on the edge of a ditch, next to the inter-hamlet road in Cua Trua field, and a broken umbrella tree was also at the bottom of the ditch. Mr. K.'s relatives went down to the ditch to search, and when they reached the front gate of Mr. Ly's house (about 3 meters deep), they discovered Mr. K.'s body.

Thanh Chuong District Police promptly arrived at the scene and made a report of the incident. Mr. K's family requested the authorities not to conduct an autopsy. That same afternoon, relatives and local authorities completed the burial procedures for the victim.

According to the people of Hop Hoa hamlet, the ditch where Mr. K.'s body was found was dug by a family with fields in hamlet 4, Thanh Chi commune in July 2016. The ditch is more than 100m long, surrounding the village road, about 2m wide, and about 1-3m deep. After the incident of Nguyen Van Trong (13 years old) drowning in the middle of the field on October 15, the people in the hamlet repeatedly asked this family to fill the pond and ditch and sent a petition to Thanh Chi commune asking the authorities to intervene. The matter had not been resolved when Mr. K.'s body was discovered in this ditch.

In the past 2 months, 2 people in Hop Hoa hamlet died in ditches and ponds in the middle of fields, causing outrage and fear among local people about the dangers of digging deep ponds and ditches in the middle of fields and along roadsides.
