Promoting 4 solutions to turn Nghe An tourism into a spearhead economic sector
(Baonghean) - 2017 marked a remarkable development of Nghe An tourism; Total revenue was estimated at 6,086 billion VND, of which revenue from services was 3,092 billion VND, an increase of 38% over the same period in 2016, reaching 120.8% of the plan - the highest ever.
Focus on 4 groups of solutions
In 2017, the entire Nghe An Tourism industry exceeded the assigned planning targets. To achieve that result, during the year, the Department of Tourism focused on the following solutions:
Firstly, strengthen the management of service quality and tourist destinations. Specifically, advise the People's Committee to issue a Plan to improve the quality of tourist destinations and tourist accommodation establishments, strengthen the management of travel and tour guiding activities and a Plan to propagate and disseminate the code of conduct for civilized tourism in the province according to the plan and direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Issue documents directing and guiding professional activities, rectify and strengthen inspection and examination of travel business activities, tour guiding, adventure tourism business activities and means of transporting tourists on inland waterways; coordinate the management of tourist transport activities by car to ensure a safe and healthy business environment in the area.

Second, focus on business-oriented activities such as: Organizing dialogue conferences with local tourism businesses to remove difficulties and obstacles, improve the business environment, enhance competitiveness, and contribute to promoting tourism development in the province.
Provide businesses with timely legal documents, instructions from the Central Government and the province, and information on tourism products to support businesses in operating in accordance with the law. Organize businesses to participate in tourism promotion activities, seek and exploit to expand international and domestic tourist markets.
Third, promote tourism promotion, advertising and cooperation, focusing on promoting domestic and international tourism. Specifically, in 2017, the Department coordinated with the General Department of Tourism to successfully organize the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Conference in 4 cities of China; participated in signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to develop the Chinese tourist market to Nghe An by road and air with Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Lao Cai.
Organizing the printing and distribution of publications and items promoting Nghe An tourism in bilingual languages such as English - Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese; participating in international tourism fairs in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, JATA Japan Fair... In particular, together with Vietnam Television, producing 6 episodes of films introducing tourism in the districts of Do Luong, Con Cuong, Ky Son, Yen Thanh, Nghi Loc...
Surveying and developing tourism products in the West and cooperating with businesses in Xieng Khouang province - Laos to exploit the tourist route from Nghe An to Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang - Vientiane and vice versa. Signing a cooperation program to develop tourism between Nghe An and Hanoi for the period 2017 - 2020;
Signing a plan to coordinate tourism promotion and advertising with the tourism promotion information centers of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Ninh Binh, Khanh Hoa.
Fourth, promote discipline and administrative order; Well perform administrative reform tasks, including submitting for approval the Project on organizing the reception and result return unit under the one-stop mechanism of the Department of Tourism; announcing the List of administrative procedures of the Department of Tourism to receive, resolve and return results under the level 3 online public service mechanism; promulgating the Working Regulations of the reception and result return unit...; building the Department of Tourism's electronic information portal and integrating it into the provincial electronic information portal.
Growth hits record high
In 2017, thanks to the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, the support and assistance of the General Department of Tourism, the proactive early implementation of assigned planning tasks, especially in promotion and advertising, Nghe An tourism activities have had positive changes, the number of tourists has increased, especially on the occasions of April 30, May 1, September 2.
Many tourist attractions attract a large number of visitors such as: Kim Lien Relic Site; Cua Lo town... In addition, cultural and spiritual ecological tourist attractions in the province such as: Truong Bon historical relic site, Hoang Muoi Temple, Muong Thanh Safari Dien Lam eco-tourism area, Con Cuong district community tourism, Cau Cau Thanh Chuong tea island eco-tourism area... all have a high number of visitors.

Tourism infrastructure continues to develop strongly, especially tourist accommodation. During the year, 76 more hotels, motels and resorts were put into operation. The number of hotels invested in the 3-5 star luxury hotel segment is increasing, especially the Vinpearl Cua Hoi Hotel, Resort and Entertainment Complex Project, which has put into operation phase 1 with an investment capital of 770 billion VND.
Many other hotels have also been upgraded to meet the needs of tourists. Eco-tourism and resort projects are promoting procedures to request investment policies, including the Eco-tourism and Entertainment Complex project in Nghi Tien Commune, Nghi Loc District of FLC Group with a total capital of 10,500 billion VND.
In 2017, the total number of tourists visiting Nghe An is estimated at 5,959 thousand, up 36% over the same period in 2016, of which the number of overnight visitors is estimated at 3.85 million, up 35.2% over the same period in 2016, reaching 106.9% of the 2017 plan. International visitors are estimated at 109,000, up 42% over the same period in 2016. To make tourism a spearhead economic sector
In 2018, the tourism industry aims to welcome and serve 4.2 million overnight guests, an increase of 9% compared to the estimated implementation in 2017, including 126 thousand international visitors, an increase of 16%; total revenue from tourism reaches 6,850 billion VND, of which tourism service revenue reaches 3,530 billion VND, an increase of 14.2% compared to the estimated implementation in 2017.
To achieve that goal, the industry continues to strengthen coordination and consultation to effectively implement the Action Program of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Plan of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing Resolution 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector associated with implementing the Action Program to implement the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress and Resolution 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for developing Nghe An province until 2020. Specify the content of the Action Program of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Plan of the Provincial People's Committee into the tasks of the industry to organize effective implementation, according to the schedule.

Continue to promote propaganda work on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
Speed up the development of tourism development plans, programs and projects. Attract investment to develop new tourism products and services, develop infrastructure to meet the requirements of welcoming and serving guests. Improve the efficiency of tourism service quality management and environmental resource management.
Strengthen tourism promotion and advertising, expand international and domestic tourist markets. Focus on training and developing human resources associated with implementing the National Tourism Occupational Standards VTOS. Improve the effectiveness of state management of tourism in the area in accordance with development requirements in the new period.
