Promoting effective coordination between schools and communities to care for children during the Covid epidemic

On the morning of March 30, in Do Luong district, the Department of Education and Training organized a workshop on the model of "coordination between family, school and community in caring for and educating children at educational institutions".preschool”.
The plan to implement the model "Coordination between families, schools and communities in caring for and educating children at preschools in the period of 2020-2025" began to be implemented from 2021 in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic greatly affecting the activities of preschools in the whole province.

Overcoming difficulties, the implementation of the model has brought many practical results, especially in building facilities and environments for children to operate, boarding work, ensuring children's safety, educating life skills, enhancing Vietnamese language for children in ethnic minority areas and caring for malnourished children.
In particular, the coordinated implementation has contributed to helping preschools complete their professional tasks when the epidemic broke out and many schools had students unable to go to school.

Specifically, during the time when children cannot go to school, many teachers have been creative in coordinating to guide parents to use available materials, tools, and toys in the house or around the house to play with their children. In addition, they have made videos organizing child care and education activities and shared with parents instructions to do at home through information technology applications: zalo, viber...
Thanks to that, the rate of parents participating in interacting and responding with clips for children to perform at home is about 60-70%; 100% of preschools have coordinated with health stations and children's families to examine their health, monitor their health charts and do a good job of coordinating with parents and the community in disease prevention, and instructing parents on how to take care of their children at home.

In addition, preschools have actively advised Party committees and authorities at all levels to mobilize organizations and individuals to participate in sponsoring and coordinating the construction of facilities and educational environments for children to participate in school and community activities.
Within the framework of the workshop, the units also had many presentations sharing experiences in implementing the coordination model between family, school and community in caring for and educating children at preschools.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Khoa affirmed that the coordination model between family, school and community in caring for and educating children at preschools is extremely important to improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools and is suitable for the current context.
However, in order for the model to be widely replicated and have the participation and coordination of departments, sectors and organizations, schools must do a good job of developing plans that are close to the actual situation of the locality and the school. In addition, it is necessary to do a good job of mobilizing and propagating so that parents and the community clearly understand the purpose, meaning, role and responsibility of the family and the community in caring for, nurturing and educating children.
