17+ superhero movie 'Deadpool' is a hit around the world
The violent superhero film grossed more than $260 million worldwide in just three days of release.
Deadpool grossed $135 million in North America after three days in theaters since February 12. The film broke the February opening record of 50 Shades of Grey (which grossed $85 million last year). At the same time, the film surpassed the $91.8 million ofThe Matrix Reloaded in 2003 to becomeThe 17+ product with the highest opening in history.

Outside North America, the filmcreated a fever in more than 60 film markets with 125 million USD, bringing the total global revenue to 260 million USD. The work made big profits inAustralia ($10 million), Taiwan ($8.2 million), Brazil ($5.9 million) and Hong Kong ($3.8 million). In the Vietnamese market alone, some scenes were cut to fit the 16+ rating, but the film still sold out and earned more than VND40 billion after three days in theaters.
Deadpool became a mid-budget film ($58 million budget) but made money for 20th Century Fox. Observers said the film won revenue thanks to telling a story that resonated with young audiences.
The plot is about a mercenary with terminal cancer who decides to undergo genetic mutation surgery and becomes a brash and talkative superhero. DeadpoolThere are a series of violent but not offensive scenes, vulgar but humorous dialogue and a touching love story. According toRotten Tomatoes, 84% of nearly 200 reviews in American newspapers rated the film positively.

The new superhero movie has dethroned Kung Fu Panda 3 from the top spot at the US box office. In its fourth week in theaters, the panda movie Po earned an additional $19.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $93.9 million.
How to be Single and Zoolander 2 were two of the weakest openings of the weekend. How to be Single grossed $18.7 million, while Zoolander 2 grossed $15.7 million.
