Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union suffered a tragic accident while helping people repair their houses after the storm.

On the afternoon of Friday, July 21, responding to the call of Nghi Dien Commune People's Committee to mobilize all people to contribute working days to help households that suffered heavy losses after storm No. 2, Mr. Nghia - Deputy Secretary of Branch 1, Nghi Dien Commune Youth Union, temporarily put aside his family work, together with other union members in the commune went to each hamlet to help families.

Nghia and 3 other members went to help repair the house of Ms. Vu Thi Xuan's family in Hamlet 8, Nghi Dien. Ms. Xuan's house had its roof blown off after Storm No. 2, her husband was working far away, leaving only her elderly mother and 4 children at home. Knowing the mechanical profession, Nghia volunteered to climb up to the roof to do the roofing, but unfortunately the accident happened.

While receiving the corrugated iron sheet from below to cover the roof, suddenly a high voltage current from the power line running near the house sucked Nghia and the corrugated iron sheet up high, then made Nghia fall from above to the ground, hitting the kitchen roof of Ms. Xuan's house.

Immediately after the incident, local people and union members quickly gave Nghia first aid and transferred him to Nghe An General Hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, Nghia was transferred to the National Burn Institute (Hanoi), where doctors were forced to amputate both his hands to save his life.

Currently, Nghia has regained consciousness, however his health condition is still complicated. Due to severe burns from electric shock, along with injuries from falling from a height to the ground, Nghia's back has become necrotic, and both legs are at risk of having to be amputated...

Nghia's family situation is very difficult (there are 2 brothers). His elderly parents stay home and work on 4 acres of rice fields without any additional income. After his younger brother had an accident, Nghia's older brother had to borrow money from everywhere to pay for his brother's hospital bills.

After her son's accident, his mother, Pham Thi Can, was so anxious that she had to quit her farming job to go to Hanoi to take care of him. Seeing her son wrapped in white bandages, with both hands amputated, she was very sad, but still tried to take care of Nghia, because she understood that, more than ever, Nghia needed her, needed his mother's love to overcome the pain.

The family is already poor and facing this tragic situation, so they really hope for attention and help from all levels, sectors and philanthropists.
