Reporting to the Deputy Prime Minister and the working delegation, Mr. Dinh Van Thu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, said that the province's socio-economic growth in the first 6 months of 2016 achieved a good growth rate.
Total social investment capital reached nearly 10,000 billion VND, of which foreign direct investment capital was more than 660 billion VND, up 13% over the same period last year. The economic structure continued to shift strongly towards increasing the proportion of industry and services; the industrial production value reached 27,800 billion VND.
The province has confirmed and implemented a subsidy regime for more than 11,500 people with revolutionary contributions. Although it has been vigorously implemented in localities, the crime situation and law violations still pose unpredictable risks.
Currently the number of drug addicts exceeds 1,000 people, however, in reality this number is double.
Traffic accidents compared to the same period last year decreased in all three criteria but are still high because National Highway 1A through the province is congested, while the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway has not been completed.
In the work of preventing and combating corruption, the whole province has carried out more than 3,200 inspections and checks; discovered and recommended the recovery of billions of dong. After more than 2 years of establishing the Steering Committee against smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud, Quang Nam province has strengthened inspection work and announced a hotline to receive and process information.
At the meeting, the leaders of Quang Nam province proposed to the Government 4 groups of issues related to the reception, management, education, rehabilitation, treatment and vocational training for drug addicts; Ensuring traffic safety on National Highway 1A through the province; Strengthening the management of resources and minerals, including debt settlement of the two gold companies Phuoc Son and Bong Mieu; Proposing to remove difficulties in the work of preventing smuggling and trade fraud in the area.
In his concluding remarks at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said that Quang Nam province has a great advantage of being located in the key economic region of the Central region, with infrastructure connected to neighboring localities, so there are many opportunities for development.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Quang Nam province has a large area and crime is on the rise, so authorities at all levels need to resolutely implement solutions to promptly rectify the security and order situation in the area.
Regarding the security and order situation at the gold mines and the tax debt of more than VND430 billion of the two gold companies Phuoc Son and Bong Mieu, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh directed: “Dealing with gold thieves must be handled thoroughly, I request that you comrades be resolute. For the two gold companies, the tax debt is very large, if they are out of license but continue to operate, there must be action taken, which is to pay taxes, redo the project, and reapply for a new license to operate. As for the bank that is the guarantor, I request that if it is a guarantor, it must take responsibility for all obligations of the guarantor, not just a paper guarantee, but a guarantee with the tax authority”./.
