(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 1, Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and the Central working delegation visited Nghe An, visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, seriously wounded soldiers and policy families in Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts.
Also joining the Central delegation were comrades: Dao Ngoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Nguyen Cao Luc - Deputy Head of the Government Office.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee: Bui Dinh Long, Hoang Nghia Hieu; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

Visiting and presenting gifts to Mr. Dao Duc Toan, 80 years old, a 1/4 war invalid in Nam Dan town, in a friendly and open atmosphere, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue kindly asked about, encouraged and expressed gratitude to him as well as to generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the nation.
Mr. Dao Duc Toan participated in the resistance war against the US from 1965 to 1970 in the Laos battlefield. In 1970, he was injured and had to have one leg amputated, the other leg was crushed and both arms were also seriously injured, with a disability rate of 81%. He has 5 children and currently lives with his youngest daughter's family in Nam Dan town.

Talking with Mr. Dao Duc Toan and his family, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that the Party, State and people will never forget the great contributions of heroes, martyrs and those who sacrificed their lives for the peace of the country and the happiness of the people.
On the occasion of the first day of the New Year, the Deputy Prime Minister wished Mr. Dao Duc Toan and his family good health and continued companionship with the development of his homeland and country.

Next, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue visited, presented gifts and wished Vietnamese Heroic Mother Tran Thi Chau a happy life at Block 4A, Dung Town, Thanh Chuong District.
Chau's mother is 104 years old this year but her spirit is still clear and optimistic. She gave birth to 10 children, of which 2 are martyrs: martyr Ngu Van Nghi (born in 1947) died in April 1968 in Vinh city; martyr Ngu Vuong Thanh (born in 1950) died in June 1972 at the southern front. The grave of martyr Ngu Vuong Thanh is currently buried at the Martyrs' Cemetery of Ba To district, Quang Ngai province.

Expressing gratitude and sharing the loss of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Tran Thi Chau, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said that the country has peace and unity today thanks to the sacrifices and contributions of generations of fathers and brothers who did not spare their blood and bones, and that is also the silent but extremely noble sacrifice of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. The contributions of mothers are extremely valuable spiritual assets for generations of children to be grateful for and follow.

Also on the morning of January 1, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and the working delegation presented 60 gifts to policy families, poor children and households in especially difficult circumstances in Thanh Chuong district.

Here, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts in economic development and ensuring social security of the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Chuong district.
Accordingly, 18/38 communes of the district have met the new rural criteria, the poverty rate is 4.6%; more than 7,000 families with revolutionary contributions have received attention and care from the Party Committee, government, and organizations. Social security policies and regimes are adequate, correct, and timely.

The new rural development program has achieved very encouraging results, many districts and provinces across the country have achieved 100% of the new rural targets; 54% of the above communes have met the new rural criteria, compared to the target, our country has reached the finish line 1.5 years ahead of schedule. Many districts across the country have begun to build model new rural areas.

The lives of rural people have been constantly improved, and Vietnam's multi-target poverty reduction program has achieved very proud results. The national poverty rate in 2019 decreased by 1.35%, and the total number of poor households decreased to below 4%, and according to the United Nations' assessment criteria, Vietnam's poverty rate is only below 1.45%. Vietnam has completed the Millennium Development Goal on sustainable poverty reduction ahead of schedule.
