At what age are women happiest?

Is it when a woman is in her prime 28 years old or until she is 84 or even 90? The answer has been given by British and Japanese researchers with many surprising explanations.

Previously, the famous British Telegraph (2010) published a study based on a survey of 4,000 women aged 25-65 with satisfaction levels related to 12 areas of their lives (career, physical beauty, self-satisfaction, social relationships, love, sex...). The results showed that the percentage of women who felt satisfied with their lives and achieved the most happiness was in the age group of 28-29.

According to the researchers, this is the time when women feel most confident and happy about love, body shape, have the best sex life, do not worry about gray hair, wrinkles on the face; begin to feel secure in their jobs, have income, have relationships and close friendships... All of these help them create a so-called "temporary perfect" point in a woman's life.
However, according to this study, the period of time for women to have this feeling of happiness does not last long. Until later age, maybe from over 30, women will begin to feel that they are aging faster than men.

After the age of 30, around 56% of women start to worry about losing their looks as they get older. On average, they will spend around £600 a year, or more than $49 a month, on beauty products to look younger; or an average of 22 minutes a day worrying about their appearance, followed by worries about promotions, family responsibilities, children, illness, memory loss, infidelity…

According to the latest research - also from the UK, just published in Time - a survey conducted by experts from the National Health Service with more than 8,000 adults, came to a different conclusion. Accordingly, when assessing the mental health of women, "women will be happiest from the age of 85 onwards".

According to Kate Lovett, a researcher, women may be less happy than men over a long period of time because they feel burdened by family responsibilities. As a result, women are more susceptible to serious health problems than men. The most common problem is mental health: 28% of women and 16% of men aged 16-24 have mental health problems. The gap narrows with age, with 18% of men and women suffering from mental health problems between the ages of 25-34; and by the time women are aged 45-54, 24% have mental health problems.

However, women's worries, hardships, and insecurities tend to decrease as they get older, around the age of 85, when their children are grown up and they no longer have to take on too much responsibility for their children or family.
Gloria Hunniford: “Since my 70th birthday, I have found everything has changed for me. I have started to feel very lucky and blessed to have reached this age in good health - as many older people do. I have switched to a sugar-free diet. I no longer have to plan my life out for decades. Instead, I have learned to appreciate each day. When you start losing friends and colleagues, it is a great reminder that you will not be here forever. That is why I love life more. I no longer work so hard every day and I appreciate the freedom it gives me to spend more time with my loved ones.

Sharing the same opinion with this conclusion, scientists in Japan also recently stated that "Only when women are over 90 years old do they truly feel happy" - This is the conclusion given at the Gerontology symposium in Osaka.

The study was conducted in Japan, involving representatives arranged into five different age groups.

The minimum age of the participants was 70. Psychologists and medical experts determined at what age a person is in the best mood, most satisfied with himself, and the results were evaluated on a very meticulous point system.

In total, people in their 70s scored 7.4 points, 80s - 8.2 points and the highest score belonged to people in their 90s. Also in this age group, women found themselves happier than men.

Professor Takeshi Nakagawa explains:"Older men depend more on public evaluation of their social activities than older women. So when their social activities decline, they feel sad.”

According to him, the older people get, whether male or female, the better they control their moods and always find the positive side of life even in very difficult situations.
