The West predicts NATO's grim outcome in the Russia-Ukraine conflict
(Baonghean.vn) - Western observers and analysts say that NATO will sacrifice Ukraine at all costs for the survival of the military alliance.
Irish journalist and RT correspondent Chey Bowes believes that NATO will sacrifice Ukraine for the survival of the alliance itself.
“Peace” has become a luxury in Washington or London. The harsh reality is that NATO will not survive a Russian victory over Ukraine. So the alliance will sacrifice Ukraine at any cost,” said Bowes.
Sharing the same view, US Colonel Daniel Davis said that any NATO security guarantee for Ukraine would lead to an escalation of the conflict between the West and Russia, and could potentially provoke a nuclear war.
According to the US Colonel, efforts to draw Ukraine into the alliance and put responsibility on NATO's shoulders will bring catastrophic consequences for the world in case of escalation.
“Any firm assurance from Ukraine that the United States or NATO would be willing to engage in a direct conflict with Russia, a nuclear-armed power, would place the future security of the United States and the West at high risk and is unnecessary,” said Colonel Davis.
The Colonel also believes that the short-sightedness of NATO countries initiated a 15-year process, which began in 2008 with NATO's declaration of its intention to admit Ukraine as a member of the alliance.
“One of the biggest mistakes the West made from the beginning was not taking into account that Russia would pose legitimate national security concerns, and how Moscow would be able to respond to Western actions that it perceived as contrary to its interests,” said Colonel Daniel Davis.
