Porsche recalls Macan due to fuel leak

More than 50,000 Porsche Macans will be recalled in the US due to risk

Porsche said the voluntary recall will affect 51,497 Macan vehicles in the US manufactured between April 3, 2014 and April 14, 2017.

According to the German luxury car manufacturer, small hairline cracks may appear on the filter edge of the fuel pump after a long period of use. These cracks can cause fuel leaks, increasing the risk of fire.

The recalled models include the Macan, Macan S, Macan GTS, and Macan Turbo. Porsche says it has not received any reports of accidents related to the issue. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and weld or replace the filter flanges if necessary.

This is not the first time Porsche has recalled the Macan. In March, the company recalled about 17,871 of these small SUVs due to a faulty occupant detection sensor. Previously, in October 2016, 243 Macans were recalled due to a faulty joint on the front anti-roll bar that could cause the vehicle to roll down.
