This is the world's first wireless charging system for a commercial electric vehicle, operating at up to 11 kW.

About 75% of charging needs take place at home, so this technology is expected to bring more convenience and simplicity to users.

How Inductive Charging Works

The system consists of a charging plate mounted on the ground and a receiver mounted under the vehicle. When the Porsche Cayenne electric car is parked in the right position, the electromagnetic field will transmit energy to the receiver to convert it into electricity to charge the battery. The user only needs to stop the car and pull the handbrake, the whole process will take place automatically without connecting the charging cable.

All managed via the My Porsche app, which helps control the loading process and manage multiple cars at once.

Performance and charging capabilities

The system’s energy transfer efficiency is up to 90%, enough to fully charge the battery overnight. The 11 kW output keeps the Cayenne Electric running smoothly on a daily basis, while the 400 kW DC fast-charging technology allows the battery to be charged from 5% to 80% in just 15 minutes – ideal for long journeys.

Safety and durability

Porsche has focused on the safety of its new technology. The wireless charging pad is designed to be waterproof, CE and UL certified, and has undergone rigorous testing by TÜV Süd.

The system is integrated with motion sensors and obstacle detection to automatically shut down when there is danger. In addition, the system also supports remote software updates, ensuring that it always maintains modernity and safety over time.

Outstanding parameters

The charging pad weighs about 50 kg with dimensions of 117 x 78 x 6 cm, easy to install in garages, carports or outdoor parking lots. Inductive charging capacity reaches 11 kW, while DC fast charging reaches a maximum of 400 kW.

All connections are supported via LTE and WLAN, allowing automatic software updates and convenient management via the app.

Distribution plan
