"Today is a special day for us to express our best feelings for our mothers, wives, daughters and colleagues - the women closest to our hearts" - President Putin began his congratulatory speech on television in the early morning of March 8.

Mr. Putin praised the beauty of Russian women in particular and women around the world in general, saying that they have brought brightness and hope to the world, and confided that Russian men are always proud of and love them.

"Because women give us life. They warm us with love, tenderness, generosity and the most tender care. It is the dignity, kindness and benevolence of women that reveal the true beauty of the Russian soul."

In his speech, President Putin expressed his admiration and gratitude for women's endurance and resilience.

"Modern women possess incomprehensible secrets. They manage everything. On special holidays like today, they are still busy with their work, still enthusiastically working creatively, taking care of and raising children, but without a single complaint. They even reach high levels in their careers and contributions to society. Facing huge burdens of worries while still remaining gentle and youthful. Many times we wonder: How can you be so perfect?"

Mr. Putin also borrowed lines of poetry from the Russian aristocratic poet Konstantin Balmont to express his love and admiration for women:

I was born of woman

Be the symbol for us to fight

It is a joy to wake up every day.

Finally, the Russian President emphasized: "Dear women! You have brought kindness, light and hope to the future. We find everything in you: inspiration and comfort. We are proud and love you all", and wished the women much joy, health, success and happiness.
