The US military is ready to respond if North Korea acts recklessly.
Speaking to the press just hours after announcing the cancellation of the US-North Korea summit, President Donald Trump explained the reason for the cancellation and warned that the US military was ready in case of need.

President Trump's announcement has caused mixed reactions among US senators. Conservatives in the US Congress immediately welcomed President Trump's decision.
House Speaker Paul Ryan said this was the right decision and the US and its allies need to continue working towards a peaceful solution, which requires a higher level of seriousness from North Korea.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that if a meeting is held, the US must demonstrate strength and must actually end North Korea's nuclear capabilities.
Meanwhile, some US senators said that the art of diplomacy is much more difficult than the art of reaching agreements, implying that the cancellation of the meeting showed that Mr. Trump lacked certain preparation in dealing with the tactics of North Korean President Kim Jong-un, as well as with the leaders of Russia and China before.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the decision was a victory for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
