In a related development, Ukrainian Security and Defense Council spokesman Andrei Lysenko announced that increased fighting in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions has left five government soldiers dead and 16 wounded in the past 24 hours.
He stressed that in the past day, rebel forces have been significantly reinforced when soldiers and equipment “crossed the border from Russia” into Ukraine.
In response to the statement, the separatists' press service accused the Ukrainian army of preparing to launch a new offensive./.
