Military Region 4 signed cooperation agreements with Lao Army units in 2017

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 20, in Nghe An province, the Military Region 4 Command with Division 1, Division 4 and the Military Commands of Lao provinces sharing borders with Military Region 4 held a joint conference to evaluate the results of cooperation in 2016 and deploy the cooperation plan for 2017.

In 2016, the Military Region 4 Command directed its units to proactively coordinate with Lao units and localities to do a good job of propaganda and education for officers and soldiers of the two countries' armed forces about the traditional history, friendship and solidarity between the two peoples; to be vigilant against plots and sabotage tricks of hostile forces; and to continue to maintain and promote the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Military Region 4 has assisted Lao units and localities in ensuring border security, building political bases, training, educating and fostering cadres; ensuring technical work, training in agricultural and forestry extension techniques; supporting and investing in building barracks, working equipment and medical examination and treatment for cadres and people of Lao ethnic groups.

Units and localities of Laos have actively helped units of Military Region 4 in searching, collecting and repatriating the remains of 200 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who died in Laos.

Through the cooperation mission in 2016, the security and political situation on the border between Military Region 4 and Laos has had many positive changes. Drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal immigration across the border have tended to decrease; the material and spiritual life of people in villages and clusters of villages along the border has been increasingly improved; the cooperative relationship between the two sides has been increasingly consolidated and strengthened, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, stable and developing Vietnam - Laos border.

At the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 4 and Colonel Phan Sai - Khan Tha Say, Commander of Division 1, Lao Ministry of National Defense signed the minutes of the 2017 joint conference between the Military Region 4 Command and Division 4, Division 1 and the Military Commands of the provinces sharing the border with Military Region 4, agreeing to cooperate and coordinate to well implement the contents on the basis of the cooperation policies and plans that the two sides identified in 2017.
