Focus on innovating the promotion of Vinh oranges' brand.

(Baonghean) - (A reporter from Baonghean Newspaper had a conversation with Comrade Phan Dinh Dat - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quy Hop District)

- Comrade, recently Quy Hop district organized several seminars to implement the project for developing orange cultivation in the area. I also understand that Quy Hop district, along with the Department of Science and Technology and some orange-producing businesses in the area, recently made a working trip to Hoa Binh province to learn about the effectiveness of orange cultivation?

- That's right, at a workshop discussing the implementation of the orange tree development project in the district, we heard about Hoa Binh province holding the Cao Phong Orange Festival, so we organized a trip to see it firsthand.

- Cao Phong oranges must have some special qualities. I've heard that Cao Phong oranges are "encroaching" on Vinh oranges in some major domestic markets?

- Not exactly. We've gained a good understanding of the orange production process in Cao Phong district. From seed selection, application of scientific and technical methods, use of biological products and pesticides… Everyone agrees that the production process is similar to that in our locality. As for quality, it can be said that Cao Phong oranges are not superior to Vinh oranges in general, especially the types of oranges currently produced in Quy Hop district.

- Let's assume that the quality of Cao Phong oranges is not as good as Vinh oranges, and their value is also lower. But their product consumption is very stable...

- The reason is that Cao Phong oranges have been very well-branded. Thanks to brand promotion, Cao Phong oranges are widely known to consumers. The Vinh orange brand was established very early, ranking 13th among local specialties with geographical indications. Cao Phong oranges, however, have only been branded for a short time, but Hoa Binh province has shown special interest in them. This is demonstrated by the organization of an orange festival. In 2015, the festival was organized by Cao Phong district, and in 2016 it was elevated to the provincial level. Through the festival, brand promotion is very effective. People know Cao Phong oranges as a specialty product with guaranteed quality in every aspect…

- As you mentioned, as I understand it, we need to learn from Hoa Binh province to better promote the brand of Vinh oranges.

- In agricultural production, Quy Hop pays special attention to oranges. We have a resolution and a plan to develop the orange growing area, aiming at producing high-quality oranges to expand the market. Through this trip, Quy Hop recognizes that the involvement of the government plays a very important role in guiding and connecting businesses and farmers in production, business, and brand promotion. We believe that innovation is needed in promoting the Vinh orange brand. The way Hoa Binh province organized a festival for Cao Phong oranges is truly worth learning from. It would be great if we could have a similar form of orange promotion in our country!
