The convoy carrying the victims' bodies back to their hometowns |
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Do (25 years old) is the eldest child in a poor farming family with two brothers. In previous years, he worked as a truck driver in the South, then moved to the North. Because the business far away was not very favorable, the income was not stable, so recently, he returned to his hometown to drive for Mr. Gian Tu Dung (39 years old) - a fellow villager and planned to change his driver's license in a while to stick with this job long-term.
The day before, after celebrating the full moon of July with their family, Do and Dung started a new trip, transporting goods from Vinh City to Quan Son District (Thanh Hoa). On the afternoon of August 16, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh (62 years old) and his wife, Mrs. Tran Thi Hien (61 years old), Do's parents, returned from herding cows and saw many people in the village running to ask questions. "Everyone was asking me where Do was, where Do went, I thought something bad had happened. After that, the family received many phone calls from the police, relatives reported that both Do and Dung had died in Thanh Hoa" - Mr. Thanh said in despair.

On the night of August 16, Mr. Thanh's family and Mr. Dung's paternal side rented a 24-seat car to rush to Thanh Hoa, arriving at the scene around midnight. After working with the authorities to resolve the incident, at 4:00 a.m. on August 17, the convoy carrying the bodies of Mr. Do and Mr. Dung departed for Nghe An.
In the small house in hamlet 12, Mrs. Tran Thi Hien - Do's mother cried out in pain: "So you have left your parents, my child. When will I see you again, my child? Oh my God, it hurts so much." Mr. Thanh suppressed his grief, calmly sat down and told his relatives and neighbors about his son's accident.

According to Mr. Thanh, the beer truck from Nghe An to Quan Son had 3 people, including Do and Dung. When the truck went downhill in Trung Ha commune, it lost control, went through a ditch on the side of the road and a small pond, and then crashed into a concrete pillar in front of a family's house. Due to the strong impact, the front of the truck was crushed, the 2 front wheels were deeply embedded in the ground, Do collapsed on the steering wheel, next to Dung, both died on the spot and were trapped in the cabin, one person was lucky to escape death.
Unlike the situation of a young freelancer like Mr. Do, Mr. Gian Tu Dung is a teacher at a high school in Tan Ky district. Mr. Dung's relatives said that this summer, Mr. Dung had a truck so he organized a drive to earn extra income, but unexpectedly got into an accident.

This afternoon, the hearses moved one by one to send the unfortunate children of the village to their final resting place. The sky of the village was also gloomy and heavy, as if sympathizing with the pain of the two families, of brothers, close friends and people in the small hamlets. The fateful truck trip yesterday afternoon had forever ended two lives with one fate, but the pain and anxiety about the traffic accident still lingers.
