Quang Le: 'Phuong My Chi's salary is now higher than mine'

The singer said his adopted son received about $6,000 per show when singing in the US, more than he did.

On the afternoon of October 17, singer Phuong My Chi released the album Thuong ve mien Trung in Ho Chi Minh City. Quang Le - the singer's adoptive father - attended this event.

Quang Le said he had just helped Phuong My Chi complete the procedures for her first trip to California, USA to perform in mid-November. The 14-year-old singer performed in three shows, earning a salary of 5,000 - 6,000 USD (about 113 million - 136 million VND) per show.

"I am proud that my adopted daughter has a high singing salary... Foreign audiences love her very much. Show organizers are also willing to spend money to invite Phuong My Chi and her mother to the US for this tour," Quang Le shared.

He also said that Phuong My Chi's salary is now equal to, or even surpasses his.However, according to the singer, his adopted son's salary this time included airfare to the US for Phuong My Chi and her mother.

When listening to Quang Le share,Phuong My Chi shyly confessed that she did not know about the salary, because her singing fees were managed by her mother.

In the second album release, Phuong My Chi continued to be guided by her adoptive father on how to sing and choose songs.The runner-up of The Voice Kids 2013 admitted that she and her adoptive father had many professional disagreements. For example, in the past, Phuong My Chi liked to pronounce words in a technical way, while Quang Le wanted her to sing in a more natural way. Once, when the young singer refused to sing the way her father taught her, Quang Le threatened to report to the principal and forced Phuong My Chi to miss a class to sing again, causing her to cry in the recording studio. After that, he still allowed My Chi to sing according to her strengths, but when editing, he changed the overly melodious parts to be more natural.

The new CD includes 10 songs - six folk songs and four Bolero songs. Of these, the songs "Me and Father's Love" and "Mother's Night Tea Stall" are two new compositions, written by musicians Hong Xuong Long and Nguyen Minh Anh especially for Phuong My Chi.

Phuong My Chi's first music night, Love for the Central Region, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of November 4. She will donate 30% of the proceeds from the CD sales to support the people of Central Vietnam.

"In 2013, at the beginning of The Voice contest, I also accidentally chose the song "Que em mua nuoc lu" when I saw the flood in the West, then became famous thanks to this song. I want to spend a part of my income to help the less fortunate," Phuong My Chi shared.

After becoming the runner-up of The Voice Kids 2013, Phuong My Chi was adopted by singer Quang Le and signed an exclusive contract with his company. He hired a private vocal teacher for Phuong My Chi, helping her perfect her singing ability and release an album.
