Thu Thiem central square proposed to be named after President Ho Chi Minh
Capable of serving 430,000 people at the same time, the project is a place to hold cultural and political festivals and is a public space serving the people.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has just proposed to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to name the central square in Thu Thiem Urban Area, District 2, after President Ho Chi Minh.
The project has the largest public space in the country, nearly 30 hectares wide. According to the city, when the square is completed, it will be a symbol of the development of this urban area. Ho Chi Minh Square will carry the meaning and affection of the Party Committee and the people of the South for Uncle Ho.
The square includes the following items: square, national flagpole, exhibition house about President Ho Chi Minh, Uncle Ho's stilt house and fish pond, and 63-city memorial park. The statue of President Ho Chi Minh is already located in the park in front of the City People's Committee (Nguyen Hue walking street), so there will be no statue of Uncle Ho built in the square.
