The US Congress has just introduced a bill aimed at preventing “Russian aggression” in the Baltic countries.

The author of this document is a member of the House of Representatives from the Republican Party, Michael Conaway. In his opinion, Russia is trying to "weaken" NATO and recreate its sphere of influence in Europe, to achieve which Moscow uses "pressure and intimidation".

The bill makes several recommendations to the Pentagon. For example, if passed, the US military would assess the defense needs of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to “lead the effort to enhance cooperation” with those countries.

In addition, Conaway proposed considering the issue of expanding the US military presence in the Baltic countries.

Earlier, the Russian Security Council announced the expansion of NATO forces near the Russian border. According to Deputy Secretary of the Council Mikhail Popov, over the past two years, the number of NATO's rapid reaction forces has increased from 25,000 to 40,000 troops, and additional tactical battalions have also been deployed in the Baltic countries.
