The National Assembly opens a new session, with a new style of questioning.

After the opening speech by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh will present a supplementary assessment report on the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in 2017; and the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in the first months of 2018.

A report synthesizing voters' and people's opinions and recommendations will be presented by Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man in the morning, before Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh presents a report examining the content of the above reports of the Government.

Capital supervision in state-owned enterprises

The 5th session is expected to last about 20 days, passing 8 draft laws, notably the Law on Denunciation (amended); Law on Special Administrative-Economic Units of Van Don, Bac Van Phong, Phu Quoc; Law on Competition (amended); Law on Cyber ​​Security; Law on National Defense (amended)...

The National Assembly will also give opinions and discuss eight other draft laws such as the Law on Anti-Corruption (amended); the Law on People's Public Security (amended); the Law on Animal Husbandry; the Amnesty Law; the Coast Guard Law; amendments and supplements to the Law on Education and the Law on Higher Education...

Regarding supervision activities, the National Assembly spent a day reviewing and discussing the report on the results of supervision of the implementation of policies and laws on management and use of state capital and assets at enterprises and equitization of state-owned enterprises in the 2011-2016 period.

"Quick question, quick answer"

In particular, the National Assembly will spend 3 days on questioning in a new format. As General Secretary of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc informed, "the time for each delegate to ask a question is 1 minute and after 3 delegates ask a question, the person being questioned must answer immediately, the time for each answer is 3 minutes".

According to the report summarizing voters' opinions and recommendations drafted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, this session received more than 3,000 opinions and recommendations with rich content and many fields.

In addition to positive assessments and comments on the work of preventing and combating corruption; institution building; and direction of the Party and State; and excitement about socio-economic results, voters also raised many existing and pressing issues that require solutions.

In particular, voters continued to reflect on the loose land management of some local authorities, the lack of public planning projects, the lack of transparency in land acquisition, and the shortcomings in site clearance, compensation, and resettlement support, causing frustration among the people.

"Requesting local authorities to strengthen dialogue, deploy synchronous and effective solutions, and satisfactorily resolve people's interests" is the wish of voters stated in the report.

In addition to the opening and closing sessions, this session will have a number of notable live radio and television sessions such as:

- Discussing socio-economic and budget issues on May 25 and 26

- Discussing the capital monitoring report at state-owned enterprises on May 28

- Questioning and answering questions on June 4, 5 and 6

- Discussion of the revised Law on Anti-Corruption on June 13
