US Congress confirms Joe Biden's victory
The US Congress has confirmed that Joe Biden won the Electoral College over President Trump.

After counting Vermont's three electoral votes, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris secured the 270 electoral votes needed to become the winners of the presidential election.
The Senate and House of Representatives rejected theefforts to contest the electoral voteGeorgia and Pennsylvania voted for Mr. Biden. Republicans also objected to the electoral votes of Arizona, Nevada and Michigan, but all failed.
The certification comes after pro-Trump protesters stormed the Capitol earlier. The joint session of Congress to count electoral votes and certify the winner of the presidential election, a largely formality, was interrupted for several hours when protesters stormed the chamber. The meeting resumed at 8 p.m. local time on January 6.

With 93 votes in favor and 6 votes against, the US Senate rejected the objection to Arizona's electoral votes for Mr. Biden. Arizona, with 11 electoral votes, is one of the battleground states in the 2020 US presidential election.
