'The Politburo's regulations promptly correct senior officials who have committed violations'
Party members believe that the Politburo's issuance of a framework of standards for senior officials is necessary to end a number of "incurable diseases".
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has just signed and issued the Politburo's regulations on title standards and criteria for evaluating officials under the management of the Central Executive Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat.
This is the first time the Politburo has specific regulations on title standards and evaluation criteria for senior officials of the Party and State.

Mr. Vo Thanh Nghi, a party member, living in Tan An city, Long An province, supports the Politburo's issuance of Regulation No. 89-QD/TW on the framework of title standards, orientation of the framework of criteria for evaluating leaders and managers at all levels; Regulation No. 90-QD/TW on title standards, criteria for evaluating officials under the management of the Central Executive Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat.
Ending the “chronic disease”
According to Mr. Nghi, these regulations are close to the actual situation and are really necessary to end some "chronic diseases" such as achievement disease and blame disease.
Mr. Nghi hopes that, from such specific regulations, leaders must truly be exemplary pioneers, practice what they preach, and have true virtue and talent.
"If regulations 89 and 90 are implemented, they will certainly be popular with the people and achieve good results, without the situation of gold and brass being mixed up, black and white being unclear," said Mr. Vo Thanh Nghi.
According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Head of the Party Building Department, Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials, this framework of standards is the result of our Party summarizing the practice of cadre work in general, and the work of building a contingent of strategic-level cadres in particular. These regulations quantify the standards for the first time, avoiding the previous subjective evaluation of cadres.
This is the first time our Party has had quantitative regulations for planning, training, arranging, and using cadres, thereby evaluating cadres objectively and in conjunction with political tasks. This is a big step forward in the Party's awareness of cadre work.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung also said that the work of cadres always holds an important and key position in the work of Party building. These new regulations will directly serve the work of building cadres in preparation for the 13th National Party Congress, and the implementation of the Resolution of the 4th Central Conference on the work of Party building and rectification.
"These two new regulations will help us do personnel work impartially and objectively, and substantially innovate personnel work, overcoming weaknesses and shortcomings like the past" - Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized.
Timely correction of violations by senior officials
Mr. Dang Cong Hau, a retired cadre in Ward 7, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, commented: “Choosing cadres must have standards, not be involved in corruption, group interests, these people must truly serve the country and the people, and be exemplary. Corruption and group interests pull each other to erode the Party. Those who understand the aspirations of the masses, share the joys and sorrows with the people, those people truly have the communist nature to undertake the work of the Party and the State.”

Through following information from the press, Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc Lien, President of the Association of Former Youth Volunteers of Binh Thuan province, former Head of the Inspection Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, expressed her agreement with the contents of the new regulations of the Politburo on title standards and criteria for evaluating senior personnel of the Party and State that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has just signed and issued.
In the current situation, Ms. Lien believes that in order to do that, it is necessary to promote the role of the grassroots Party organization, which directly manages those Party members. Most importantly, the Party organization must regularly follow the actual situation to promptly correct the mistakes of senior officials.
“The grassroots party cell must closely manage party members to monitor their work and activities. Regular monthly party cell meetings are held so that the party cell can fight. The advantages of the cadres must be promoted, and any wrongdoings or shortcomings must be promptly detected and overcome. Avoid letting things happen, then checking, concluding, and handling them,” Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc Lien expressed.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Le Cong Thanh, a retired cadre in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, said that the newly issued regulation emphasizing the role of individuals, being ready to sacrifice for the revolutionary cause of the Party, for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people; absolutely not allowing relatives and acquaintances to take advantage of their positions and powers for personal gain... is very popular.
“The standards for selecting positions for officials are quite strict. When you are nominated for that position, you have to train yourself. If you find that you cannot do it, you can voluntarily resign. You cannot cling to it and keep it like that,” said Mr. Thanh.
“The Party’s top leaders have determined to do so, so all cadres in the apparatus, in any position, must do their job to the fullest. We, long-time Party members and retired cadres, welcome it and request that it be thoroughly implemented. I think that in this period, we need to be thorough and resolute. If you are elected and you cannot do it according to the regulations, then let someone else take over,” said Mr. Do Van Bang, a 50-year Party member in Phuong Son ward, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province./.
