Quynh Luu: Nearly 100 households are 'thirsty' for electricity

(Baonghean.vn) - Although there is electricity, people in Dong Xuan village, Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu) have to endure fans not spinning, refrigerators without ice... causing damage and short circuits in many household electrical appliances.

During hot summer days like this, using cooling devices in the house is very necessary for people. However, in Dong Xuan village, Quynh Thang commune, although there is electricity, people cannot use it because the power source is too weak.

Mr. Pham Minh Duc - a resident said that the current electricity is too weak, affecting people's lives. Electrical appliances in the house cannot be used, especially from 7pm to 10pm at night when all appliances such as televisions, electric fans, and even energy-saving light bulbs seem to stop working.

“The electricity is too weak, the TV cannot be turned on so we cannot keep up with daily news, the electric fan does not turn on causing children and the elderly to have fever. Therefore, we request the Electricity industry to pay attention and repair and upgrade the power station to ensure people's lives, especially during the hot season like now” - Mr. Duc suggested.

Weak and unstable electricity is also the cause of people's electronic devices being burned and damaged. Mr. Tran Xuan Thuy said that because of the weak electricity, the family's newly purchased refrigerator worth nearly 6 million VND was left unused, and after many years of not using it, it is now damaged. To have a stable power source, Mr. Thuy bought a Lioa machine to boost the electricity, but the electricity was still weak.

“There is electricity but it cannot be used, all electronic devices are left unused, people are very upset and have requested to higher authorities many times but until now it has not been resolved” - Mr. Thuy said.

Dong Xuan village has 91 households with nearly 100 electricity meters; currently the electricity system is connected from the commune's station 5 to serve the people's daily life. According to the households' feedback, the weak electricity situation has been like this for about 2 years, that is, after the power grid was handed over to Quynh Luu Electricity for management; before that, the electricity system managed by the electricity cooperative was still operating normally.

According to research, in 2001, each household contributed 1.1 million VND to buy electric wires and poles and handed them over to the electricity cooperative for installation and management. During this time, the household electricity system was used normally, fans, televisions, pumps... all worked well. After the commune handed over the rural low-voltage grid to the Electricity industry for management, and especially since 2014, the weak power source has greatly affected the production and daily life of the people.

Mr. Le Van Nga - Chairman of Quynh Thang Commune People's Committee said that the locality has received many petitions and requests from Dong Xuan villagers about weak electricity.

In meetings with voters, the locality also brought up this issue for discussion, and the commune also submitted a petition to the Quynh Luu Electricity Department. After receiving comments, the Electricity Department went to the scene to repair the problem, but the electricity was still weak. The locality hopes that the Electricity Department will pay attention to investing in a power station in the village, or upgrading the power station to meet the needs of the people.
