Quynh Luu: Ceremony to receive, pay respects and bury martyrs' remains

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 4, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, people of Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, together with the family and clan of Tran held a ceremony to receive, pay tribute and bury the remains of martyr Tran Xuan Tu from Ho Xa Martyrs' Cemetery, Vinh Linh (Quang Tri) to his hometown cemetery for burial.

Martyr Tran Xuan Tu was born in 1947, in Dai Tan village, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district. On May 20, 1965, Tran Xuan Tu volunteered to join the Military Intelligence Unit of Brigade 126 - Navy, holding the position of: Military Intelligence, rank of Sergeant.

He died on November 15, 1971 in Cua Viet, Dong Ha (Quang Tri) at the age of 24. His body was buried in Vinh Trung commune, Vinh Linh district, and later gathered at Ho Xa martyrs cemetery.

He was posthumously awarded the Certificate of National Merit by the Prime Minister and the Third Class Liberation Feat Medal by the President; Third Class Anti-American National Salvation Medal; Third Class Liberation Soldier Medal and many other certificates of merit.

Up to now, after 47 years of resting at Ho Xa Cemetery, Vinh Linh (Quang Tri), the Party Committee, the government, departments, agencies, organizations and family have brought the remains of martyr Tran Xuan Tu back to his hometown. The ceremony to receive the remains of the martyr was held solemnly and respectfully.

Immediately after the memorial service, the martyr's remains were buried at the Tran Family Cemetery in the infinite sorrow and gratitude of his comrades, Party committees, authorities at all levels and local people for his great contributions and heroic sacrifices to the cause of fighting to protect the Fatherland./.
