Quynh Luu: Raising more than 20 hectares of commercial clams

(Baonghean.vn) - After harvesting commercial clams to sell to the market, dozens of clam farming households in Quynh Luu district are currently continuing to treat their ponds and stock them to close the area.

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong in Son Hai commune has nearly 20 hectares of clam farming area. In recent days, her family has released about 7 hectares of clam seeds.

Quynh Luu has 120 hectares of commercial clam farming area concentrated along the tidal flats of Son Hai, Quynh Tho, An Hoa, Quynh Thuan communes. Commercial clam farming is done by farmers in a rotational manner, every 1 hectare of pond area will be divided into separate areas for farming. Therefore, at any time, people have products to harvest.

Currently, in tidal areas, clam farmers are focusing on hiring workers to treat ponds and at the same time, releasing clam seeds. It is estimated that by March 3, there were about 20 hectares of clam seeds released by people, and the released clams were all nursed for more than 1 year. In addition to releasing clam seeds, farmers continue to mobilize aerators and hire workers to go to the tidal flats to harvest clams.
