(Baonghean.vn) -Winter vegetables in Nam Dan have been harvested. Thanks to high prices, growers have been able to offset the losses caused by early season floods.

After the flood, Xuan Hoa commune (Nam Dan) quickly closed 284 hectares of winter crop production, of which 167 hectares were commercial vegetables. In addition to the production support mechanism of the province and district, the commune supported irrigation and agricultural protection; encouraged the expansion of the area to build high-income fields with some key crops such as green squash, kohlrabi, bitter melon, lily, green beans, herbs, etc.

Currently, winter vegetables in Nam Dan are priced: Green beans 10,000 VND/kg, mustard greens 5,000 VND/kg, cucumbers 10,000 VND/kg, about 3-4,000 VND/kg higher than last year.

With many years of experience in producing vegetables, Xuan Hoa people have been sensitive in approaching the production market in the direction of anticipating the spread of crops, so the products sell at high prices.

According to Mr. Ho Manh Hung - Chairman of Xuan Hoa Commune People's Committee, winter crop production has many crops that are favored by the market; in directing production this year, the commune focuses on building a safe vegetable model to bring to the market; increasing income for people.

Along with building high-income fields and large model fields according to the new rural program, implementing the district's general policy of "Say no to dirty food", many localities in Nam Dan have built safe vegetable areas, introduced new crop varieties with high yield potential and economic value, and used pest control measures with biological products to produce clean vegetables.

In addition to communes with a tradition of commercial vegetable production with a stable area of ​​150 - 200 hectares such as Nam Anh, Nam Xuan, Xuan Hoa, communes in the Lam River delta and semi-mountainous areas have introduced intensive commercial vegetables with advanced production formulas, built roofed net houses... suitable for the climate and soil conditions of each region, contributing to promoting production development and enriching the Nam Dan vegetable brand.

Mr. Nguyen Ho Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nam Dan district, said that up to now, the total area of ​​vegetables in the district has reached 1,400/1,600 hectares of the plan; the district has directed communes to urge farmers to produce high-quality vegetables, especially safe vegetables according to VietGAP standards.

With the motto of "multi-crop - multi-season", arranging the crop structure suitable for each production area, creating a chain linking from production to consumption, winter crop production has helped Nam Dan farmers gradually innovate both in thinking and increase income, increase production value in a sustainable direction, contributing to affirming the effectiveness of income criteria according to the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.
