Dramatic chase in Nghe An coastal boat race
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 28, at Thoi Temple, Son Hai Commune, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu District (Nghe An) coordinated with the People's Committee of Son Hai Commune to organize a boat racing competition and launch a campaign for fishermen to go offshore to exploit aquatic products in 2018.
This year’s boat race attracted the participation of 5 communes: Quynh Tho, Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia, Tien Thuy and Son Hai; in which, Son Hai established 2 racing teams with nearly 200 athletes.6 participating teams, divided into 2 groups, each group competes once, selecting the first and second teams to compete in the final.

Amidst the cheers and encouragement of the local people, the athletes had fierce races, giving the audience exciting chases on the 300m round trip.
The tournament not only creates a joyful and exciting atmosphere, serving the people to enjoy the Spring Festival, but also has an important meaning in motivating and encouraging people of all walks of life to participate in training. Through the tournament, the aim is to train the body and improve swimming skills to be proactive in disaster prevention and search and rescue.

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Quynh Long commune, the second prize to Tien Thuy commune and the third prize to two racing boat teams of Son Hai commune.
A representative of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district said: "This is the first time Quynh Luu district has organized a boat racing festival since Hoang Mai town was separated from Quynh Luu. The racing festival aims to gradually complete and upgrade the Son Hai commune's Cau Ngu Festival to a district-level festival in 2019."
